These shots are from three different sites and about four different homes. Im starting the set off with my favorite of all of them.
I have to wonder about how much I like my own pictures. Am I learning anything? Am I being too lenient with myself with my images or are they actually good? I cant be objective enough to say. Does it even matter? Im not sure. I am having fun though.

I like these images a lot and am especially drawn to the really graphic ones. There's something about the compositions using the shapes of objects and even negative space. There is a lot of line and texture in these which I also like. I actually don't know which I like more--these or the ice images. I'm leaning more toward these though because I think they say more about you somehow. I can see a love of all the things I mentioned in the first few sentences in this post in these images which I don't recognize in the ice images, but that could just be the highly abstract nature of the ice images. These show a nice maturity and understanding of photography.
Wow Kelly, thank you very much! I think these do say more about me. There is so much to abandoned homes. I keep trying to pinpoint one general reason why I love them but I just cant do it. Its a whole process for me that involves finding the home, making my way to it through unfamiliar terrain, braving the unknown, knowing full well what MIGHT be in the home, seeing personal items that were left behind by the residents and matching that up with the trash that gets dumped there by people who never lived there and never cared about the place, finding beauty in decaying matter, seeing how the house gets repurposed by animals and wondering why it got left behind and who left it. These are all the things that draw me to abandoned homes. Maybe it's best that I have all these reasons because if I ever have to write about my shots as a series then I will have much more to say.
Oh yeah, and I should mention that I do love lines and positive and negative space. A lot! I have always been drawn to geometric shapes. I suppose thats why the ice images are such a departure from what I normally do but I do love them as well.
You know what else? These would all look great done in an alt process. Kallitype. Platinum/Palladium. mmm Who needs a darkroom?? With all that available sunshine, you wouldn't even need a lightbox. Alt pro can be pricey though. But then, you could shoot digital and make enlarge digital negs to make the prints. Sorry. You really have more than you need going on in terms of photo right now, don't you? Baby steps....
Words cant express how badly I want to do my own prints. I have that book on how to create digital negatives but I cant find it. Its here somewhere. LOL!
